Urban Research Workshop
Each year, a group of undergraduates apply for admission into a year-long intensive program of study on cities around the world. The Urban Research Workshop (URW) is led by Venkatesh and includes Columbia and Barnard undergraduates. The URW includes a weekly seminar series, in which experts from various fields are invited to share their projects, films, and research with the public. The group also travels to various international cities to experience the challenges of modern urbanism first hand. The issues that the group examines includes social inequality, sustainable development, race and ethnic relations and, economic and community development.
